It is well known that when social innovation occurs greater social impact happens. Specifically, when philanthropy, public, non-profit, and private sectors work together toward a common aim, sustainable changes occur. In education, the concept of "networks for school improvement" or "networked improvement communities" has been rapidly growing, and has been recently operationalized by philanthropies such as the Gates Foundation. Research has shown a strong correlation between elementary and high school indicators of success. However, there is no existing network in Chicago that aims to directly support elementary schools as is the case with the University of Chicago's Network for College Success.
Start date: September 2020 or earlier based on contract execution
Innovare will leverage an asset-based approach that enhances existing systems while adding value via its custom dashboards, portfolio management capability, and ongoing technical support.
Understand the needs of SFF leadership and support staff through initial meetings and interviews.
Customize the software and support to address the needs of SFF at the foundation level, support organization level, and the needs of each of its partner schools at the school level.
Innovare will continue to make updates and provide technical and capacity-building support to SFF teams at all levels throughout the lifespan of the contract.
Understand the needs of each non-profit support organization leadership team through initial meetings and interviews.
Customize the software and support to address the needs of each non-profit support organization. Support each team in the development of their support playbook, which will guide the school level network members through each organization's support model.
Innovare will provide ongoing implementation progress monitoring support, make system updates, and provide technical and capacity-building opportunities to the non-profit support organization teams throughout the lifespan of the contract.
Above is an introduction to Inno™, our data, strategy, and project management application that will be provided to each member organization of the NSI to complement our network-level professional development and support. This continuous improvement system will house the strategic plans of each school and non-profit organization, allow leaders to monitor their progress toward their individual goals, and help them engage external stakeholders.
Inno™ will also provide a cloud collaboration space for school teams to potentially learn from each others' approaches to common challenges, identify, and borrow useful strategies leading to collective impact. Lastly, the Inno™ portfolio licenses will be provided to the Steans Family Foundation and support organizations so that the teams can access the work of the network and the impact on each school in real-time.
Samples below are provided for your reference; however, all work products will be designed with Steans Family Foundation's needs at the center.
Innovare worked with Ford Next Generation Learning to provide their leadership team with macro-level data insights that inform national strategic planning.
Innovare developed macro-level dashboards for the Office of Early Childhood in Chicago Public Schools that supported district and school-level decision making and led to the creation of early childhood centers in targeted areas of the city.
For Bright Beginnings, Innovare built its data infrastructure and customized a rubric aligned to their mission, and provided real-time updating dashboards that save staff time and money in progressing toward delivering greater impact to their children, families, and community.
